Michaela Klabanová
Michaela holds a Master’s of Psychology degree from Prague, Czech Republic and a Master’s of Psychotherapy and Counselling degree from Melbourne, Australia. She is a registered psychologist and a member of relevant professional bodies.
During her initial degree, she also studied at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna, Austria. Her training in Europe was hands-on, which means that she started working with clients on placements in 2011. In Europe, Michaela completed her training in psychodynamic group psychotherapy and has since been running psychotherapeutic groups. Later on, Michaela completed training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy approach and in Couples and Addiction Recovery treatment. Michaela is passionate about learning, having completed a range of training courses in the areas of trauma, addictions, dream interpretation, cultural awareness and many more.
Michaela predominantly works with complex mental health issues, e.g. trauma, addiction and dual diagnosis. Furthermore, she is passionate about masculinity and men’s mental health.
Her experience includes working with children, youth and adults. She has worked in a broad range of settings — from schools and community, to hospitals/psychiatric wards and prisons. She works with clients from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and provides treatment for a wide range of disorders: depression, anxiety and phobias, PTSD, addictions, neurodevelopmental disorders (such as ADHD, ASD), personality disorders, conduct disorder, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders such as bi-polar and related disorders.
